Coachs tip of the Month
Create special roles for your bench players, especially
if you coach in an environment where
playing time is not equal. Communicate with these
players frequently so they are ready to
contribute when they enter the game.

When is registration?

Return player registration is April 1st and 2nd from 6-8pm at the Oxford High School in the cafeteria, then new player registration is on April 29th and 30th from 6-8pm at the High School as well.

We hear there is a waiting list for kids wanting a chance to participate. Is this true?
Yes it is true, but we have never had a waiting list more than four names.  Our goal has always been that any child that wants to play football, WILL!

We have not required a waiting list for cheerleading up to this point and do not anticipate the need for one in the future.

What are the age and weight requirements for football players?

Freshman are 8 and 9 years old, Junior Varsity are 10 and 11 year olds, with some 12 year old 6th graders and Varsity is 12 and 13 year olds with a limited number of 14 year old 7th and 8th graders.  All ages are based on an age as of September 1st.

When will practices begin?
Evaluation camp will begin July 28th-30th from 6-8pm, and practices begin the following week starting August 3rd.  Both the camp and practices will be held at the Oxford Middle School.

Cheerleading will maintain the same practice schedule as football. Cheer coaches reserve the right to change/eliminate practice days if prior authorized.

When will games begin?
We do not have a schedule yet, but anticipate league play to begin Aug. 22/23 with another game Aug. 29/30.  There will be no game over Labor Day weekend

Should I be worried about injury?  My child is small and wants to play...
Actually smaller kids have fewer injuries than the bigger kids and statistically youth football is as safe as any other competitive youth sport.  Injury Fact Sheet

With the high cost and time commitment will my child play?
It is not very much fun for the kids to stand and watch others play. Kids practice hard all week to play in the game, not watch it. Our policy is all kids will play a minimum of six plays per half. Giving kids the opportunity to play is necessary for their development and is one of our program's primary objectives.

Can my child play quarterback?
Coaches will determine what position a child will play. You may feel free to speak to the coach about your desire as long as the conversation remains polite, but coaches will make the decision on position.

Can my daughter play football?
Yes, girls are very welcome to play football.
